5)  General Purpose Dynamic Programming (GPDP) Files for download

After the DP book was published in 1986, the GPDP software was converted from BASIC to Visual Basic, and many more routines were included.

The GPDP control panel is used for selecting the data file relevant to a DP problem, and for
solving the problem with various options

Clicking a GPDP.EXE file now opens the following control panel. The GPDP Help Manual referred to below details
how to use the control panel to solve a DP problem for which the data file has been selected. Data files are given the
extension '.dat'

For 'Help', press the Help button.
.

Download GPDP installation file Downloads an early version of GPDP.exe and three example problem data files.
Latest versions of GPDP.exe:
GPDP102.exe      GPDP102.zip      15.02.04

GPDP103.exe      GPDP103.zip       24.08.04

If this is a later version of the file you have installed and you wish to update, rename the existing GPDP.exe file in your GPDP folder, and copy the latest version to your GPDP folder.

Any error messages found on reading the dat file are written to the GPDPsoln.log file in the folder containing the dat file.
GPDP setup 06.exe

Readme.txt    Licence.rtf   GPDP.HLP

Self-extracting file for downloading GPDP103.exe and supporting files, and problem data files in a subfolder.

If GPDP setup 06.exe will not work, download files individually. See Readme.txt for details.

GPDP Help Manual
GPDP_Manual_03.doc   or   GPDP_Manual_03.pdf
The Manual explains how to use the GPDP routines to solve a wide range of DP problems.
Solutions are illustrated  for the problem data files which can be downloaded, and which are detailed in the DP book.
The ways in which data files for DP problems can be written using the GPDPdata spreadsheet workbook are outlined.
Self-extracting file of DP problem data files:
 DataFiles.exe
ROUTE1.dat,  ROUTE2.dat,  IRDF.dat,  IRDI.dat,  IRSF.dat,  IRSI.dat,  cpaf.dat,  CPAb.dat,  STORE.dat,  BEEF.dat,  POL.dat,  FOREST.dat,  TUNA_S.dat,  TUNA_I.dat
Workbook for generating GPDP problem *.dat files:
GPDPdata03.xls

GPDPdata05.xls

The workbook can be used for writing data files for DP problems by manual entry on forms tailored to the problem type given the problem parameters, or by editing example Visual Basic subroutines.
Examples are given for many of the problems in the DP book.
The "Workbook Guide" sheet explains how to use the other sheets in the Workbook.

GPDPdata05.xls changes:
Overview of options for data file writing given on p. 2 of the Workbook Guide;
Specifying the GPDP folder of data files simplified (See p. 2 of the Workbook Guide).

Programs for generating GPDP problem data files:
ZBEEF.xls   ZTUNA.xls
These programs may be edited to write the data files for other problems.

Another method for writing GPDP problem dat files

   1) Writing a DP problem data file to a spreadsheet; and
   2) Writing the spreadsheet problem data to a GPDP dat file.
                                                                                             November 2009

Go to Workbook: GPDPdata XLS to dat file Oct 09.xls

Sheet 1: XLS data to GPDP dat file ( - 2 above - See VB Public Sub 'XLSdataToDATfile'
Example of writing the GPDP dat file for the DP problem IRSF from spreadsheet data.

Sheet 2: VB Writing IRSF to XLS ( - 1 above - See VB Public Sub
                                                                                   'WriteIRSFdataToXLSspreadsheet'
Example of using Visual Basic routines to write the GPDP data for the problem IRSF to the spreadsheet in the required format.
